Kennedys celebrates 20 years in Hong Kong with office move

Kennedys is celebrating 20 years in Hong Kong, and is also moving to new offices.

Kennedys Hong Kong was one of the firm’s first international offices, laying the foundations for the worldwide growth that has been a hallmark of Kennedys over the last two decades. Since its opening in 2000, the Hong Kong office has grown from 10 people to a team of over 80.

To accommodate the larger team the firm is relocating from its current premises in the Hong Kong Club Building to Oxford House in Taikoo Place, Quarry Bay. Taikoo Place is fast becoming Hong Kong’s preeminent business hub, having attracted over 300 leading international businesses including banking and finance, legal services, insurance, accounting and technology companies.

Richard Bates, Managing Partner, Hong Kong said: “As one of Kennedys’ first international offices, it is very rewarding for us to look back and see how much the office has grown over the past 20 years. Our new purpose-built workspace will reflect the new world in which we all now work.  Many of our clients, particularly our insurance industry clients, are already located in Taikoo Place and the surrounding neighbourhood, and we’re looking forward to joining them.”

“Due to COVID-19 we are not yet able to host clients at our offices.  However, as we hopefully but cautiously move towards recovery, we look forward to inviting our clients to our new offices in the New Year.”

This is not the first office move that the firm has managed during the pandemic. In March the firm’s Melbourne office moved to new, larger premises in the landmark, Melbourne Central Tower, having tripled in size to more than 30 staff in the last two years. The firm also opened two new offices; in June in San Francisco, and in Tel Aviv in October.

Nick Thomas, Senior Partner, Kennedys commented: “The new office in Hong Kong highlights our commitment to growth across our global network, and responding to client need. We are a well-established business in the region, and remain focused on ensuring we deliver for our clients.”

“This move and the other moves and openings we have completed is testament to our business services teams who have more than risen to the challenges posed this year. Office openings and relocations are complex at the best of times but are even more challenging during a pandemic.”

Effective 1 December 2020, our new office address will be 37/F Oxford House, Taikoo Place, 979 King's Road, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong. Our telephone and fax numbers remain unchanged.
