Bethia is a Senior Associate in Kennedys' Asia-Pacific aviation team and is based in the Singapore office. She is a Hong Kong qualified solicitor who handles a diverse range of aviation disputes including single and multi-jurisdictional liability claims, incident response, commercial, employment and regulatory matters. She advises local and international stakeholders in the aviation industry such as commercial airlines, business jet operators, general aviation operators, MROs, ground handlers and insurers.

Bethia trained and qualified with Kennedys in Hong Kong. She has extensive experience in insurance and commercial litigation including trial, and has acted for many multinational clients across industries particularly in education, tourism and hotels and transport and logistics. Bethia subsequently diversified her practice into aviation and worked in another prominent international law firm before she joined Kennedys Singapore.

  • Advising and defending London market reinsurers in numerous operator policy proceedings brought by lessor claimants following the Russia Ukraine crisis.
  • Advising airlines on a range of liability claims in respect of passenger injury and cargo damage.
  • Acted for local and international schools and educational organisations in respect of sensitive and/or high-profile losses including tetraplegic and MIP claims, and advising on employment matters.
  • Defended a global hotel group in a fatal claim involving complex arguments on causation, multiple co-defendants, experts and novel quantum issues.
  • Acted for one of Hong Kong’s largest transport companies and settled a catastrophic injury involving several liability and quantum experts on very favourable terms.
  • Regularly advised insurers on a range of coverage issues, including double and triple insurance and subrogated recovery.
  • Handled a voluminous range of employer’s liability, public liability and professional indemnity claims through swift and cost-effective case management strategies.
