Mock trial

Kennedys' are delighted to be hosting a mock trial taking place at City Hall Sunderland on Wednesday 22 November 2023.

The mock trial, covering an employers' liability claim scenario, will be chaired by Kennedys' Partners Louise Bedford and Carol Dalton and will include guest speakers from Park Lane Plowden Chambers. The claimant suffered a personal injury whilst they were undertaking work to a vehicle. The claimant sustained a serious crush injury to the hand. 

The claim raises issues as to safe systems of work, supervision, training, the importance of risk assessments and clear instructions. The mock trial will provide an insight into court procedures, disclosure of documents and the key aspects in maintaining a successful defence to an employers’ liability claim.

The session will simulate a live trial with no pre-determined outcome.
