Carol Dalton
Profile
Carol is a partner in our Leeds office. Carol specialises in high value employers’ and public liability claims and property damage disputes acting for companies, insurers and public sector organisations on a national basis.
Carol represents local authorities, universities, care home and housing association clients in relation to civil claims for compensation, working closely with the organisations and their insurers and brokers at all stages. The nature of the work often leads to Carol advising on complex injury claims potentially arising from allegations of abuse, assault, stress and breaches of data protection legislation and the Human Rights Act.
These claims may well include complex medical causation issues and vulnerable claimants. Carol builds strong relations with her clients, supporting them with claims but also considering training and lessons learned as well as providing updates as to changes in the law that may impact their business.
Carol is highly regarded for her attention to detail in investigating and defending claims, and for her determination to secure the right result for the client.
Carol was the former chair of FOIL (Forum of Insurance Lawyers) public sector and blue light SFT (sector focus team). She is a regular speaker at local and national events, often being invited to present legal updates, addressing issues on the horizon for clients. Carol also participates in expert panels, has chaired discussions at round table events with other leaders in the field and regularly contributes articles to magazine publications.
