Chanaia Sabando

Chanaia is an Associate in Kennedys liability insurance team in Sydney specialising in public and product liability, dust diseases, property damage, medical negligence, and commercial disputes. She is experienced in managing a high-volume caseload, drafting legal advice, advocating for clients in complex disputes, and delivering strategic solutions.

With two years of post-qualification experience in workers compensation, Chanaia has worked in statutory claims, permanent impairment, work injury damages, and recoveries within that space. In 2024, she represented the defendant in the case of Liu v NSW Police Force [2024] NSWPICMP 130 where the PIC Appeal Panel determined in favour of her submissions pursuant to section 327(2) of the Workplace Injury Management Act 1998 and rejected the plaintiff’s appeal.  

Prior to admission, Chanaia gained clerking experience in general practice such as criminal and wills and estates, before working as a Paralegal assisting with medical negligence claims, and subsequently being promoted to Claims Consultant in historical abuse.
