Colin Crug has vast experience handling admiralty and maritime litigation. Growing up in Northwest Washington, Colin was afforded numerous opportunities in the maritime industries, including that of a commercial fisherman and boat builder for the regional tribes. Colin accredits this experience for his decision to pursue maritime law as a specialty and for providing him the knowledge he brings in his execution of the same. Over the course of his legal career, Colin has similarly amassed significant experience defending hospitals and healthcare providers against medical malpractice claims, as well as handling a multitude of coverage disputes for insurance clientele. 

Colin provides strategic counselling on a wide range of insurance matters, including marine insurance and reinsurance, insurance coverage, general liability and maritime transactional work. He represents both domestic and international clients in maritime commercial disputes, terminal operations, personal injury, casualty, and cargo matters.

Colin’s litigation practice is focused primarily on the defense of vessel owners, container and bulk carrier ships, terminal and marina owners and operators, recreational boat insurers and underwriters, supply chain logistics providers, marine employers, insurance carriers, underwriters and protection and indemnity (P&I) clubs in both state and federal courts. Additionally, Colin continues to defend physicians, hospitals, multi-specialty clinics, academic medical centers, nurses, and other health care professionals in medical liability litigation, as well as representing hospitals in medical staff matters. His experience further includes representing health care professionals in licensing and disciplinary actions involving the Washington State Department of Health, and the Washington Medical Commission.  

Colin is an active member with the Maritime Law Association of the United States (MLA), both lecturing at MLA events and holding membership with several organizational committees. In preparation for his practice as a maritime attorney, Colin attending Tulane Law School where he received an LL.M. in Admiralty. While in attendance at Tulane, Colin won the Maynard Cooper & Gale Admiralty Writing Competition and was a recipient of the Harry F. Stiles, Jr. Scholarship in Maritime law.
