Nick is a Special Counsel in Kennedys Brisbane office with over 14 years of experience in dispute resolution and regulatory investigations. 

Nick has particular expertise in managing large-scale and complex discovery exercises and responding to enquiries made by regulators and Commissions of Inquiry which can often require the dissemination of millions of documents in short spaces of time. Nick’s strong knowledge of the technology used in discovery and research, and his commercial and methodical approach is invaluable in what are often fraught and fast-moving situations.

Prior to joining Kennedys, Nick worked for a major Australian firm in their commercial litigation team, managing proceedings in various jurisdictions across Australia.

Work highlights

  • Acting for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia through the various stages of the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry.
  • Acting for NBN in the Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements
  • Successfully defending AMP in a claim brought by an authorised representative whose authorisation had been terminated (McDonald v AMP Financial Planning Pty Ltd [2018] QSC 196).
  • Acting for the Australian Government’s Department of Health in the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.
  • Acting for Queensland Health in the Commission of Inquiry to Examine DNA Project 13 Concerns.
  • Successfully defending an individual in Federal Court proceedings brought by disgruntled investments in IRExchange.
  • Acting for a number of different organisations and individuals in various dealings with ASIC, the ACCC and other regulators.
