Lauren Gosnell
Profile
Lauren qualified as a solicitor in 2010. She works in the Manchester office handling large loss and catastrophic injury claims.
She has over 13 years’ experience in dealing with complex and catastrophic claims, including claims involving tetraplegia, paraplegia and other spinal cord injuries, significant brain injuries, severe orthopaedic injuries, neurological functional disorders and psychiatric damage. She has experience in dealing with claims with complex arguments on causation, both factual and medical, and claims involving underlying genetic conditions and the impact on life expectancy.
Lauren works collaboratively with her insurer clients and the claimant’s team throughout the life of the claim to seek a resolution which is agreeable to all parties, as swiftly as possible, without the need for protracted litigation costs.
She deals with a varied caseload of employer’s liability, public liability and motor claims and has also dealt with claims in other global jurisdictions; in particular, in France and Italy.
High value public liability claims form a significant part of the work Lauren has undertaken over the past 13 years and she has experience in leading relationships with large county councils across England. As a result from this, Lauren has extensive knowledge in handling public sector claims from those involving duty of care issues, the Highways Act, Highways Nuisance, and accidents in schools involving serious assaults of staff or students within education and care settings.
She has litigated claims with arguments on the extent of duties of care and the application of the Occupiers Liability Act 1957 and 1984, having acted for the defendants in both Lisa Driver v Roman Painted House & Dover District Council [2014] and Leadbetter v Sheffield City Council (1) and Amey Hallam (2) [2017]. Lauren was successful in defending both these matters at trial.
She also has experience of handling EL claims for a low cost airline based in the UK involving claims with significant brain injuries, complex regional pain syndrome, acoustic shock and significant orthopaedic and crush fractures.
