Colbert is an Associate in the Kennedys’ Aviation team.

He advises local and international stakeholders in the aviation industry, from airlines, airports, business jet operators, maintenance and repair organisations to their (re)insurers across a diverse range of contentious and non-contentious advisory matters, including passenger, baggage, cargo and aircraft / property damage claims, as well as other regulatory issues.

Prior to joining Kennedys in 2023, his experience spanned across commercial disputes, employment advisory, cross-border corporate transactions, and capital markets, including secondments to Goldman Sachs Investment Banking Legal (APAC) and the Commercial Dispute Resolution team at the Melbourne office of a leading international law firm.

Colbert graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (Distinction). He is dual-qualified as a Solicitor of the High Court of Hong Kong and of the Senior Courts of England and Wales.

Born and raised in Taiwan, Colbert is fluent in English and Chinese (Mandarin, Taiwanese and Cantonese).

Work highlights

  • Advised airlines, aircraft operators and their (re)insurers in relation to regional contentious and advisory issues including major carriers in Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam
  • Advised on aircraft ground collision incidents and consequential claims in South Korea and Japan

Prior to joining Kennedys, Colbert's notable experience included, 

  • Assisting to defend a shareholder class action proceedings in the Supreme Court of Victoria regarding the disclosure of an ASX listed company’s foreign subsidiary
  • Assisting on advice to the ASX in relation to regulatory issues arising from the delays to the CHESS Replacement project
  • Assisting to defend against an employer’s statutory duty and negligence litigation for the joint venture entity of a global aerospace defence operator
  • Advising on post-listing regulatory compliance for various HKEx listed companies, covering continuous disclosures as well as corporate governance
