Ashley is a legal director, joining Kennedys in July 2023.She is based in the London office.

She was a partner at Plexus Law for over 20 years and has also worked at DWF.

Since qualifying, Ashley has acted almost exclusively for Defendants and their Insurers on a wide range of personal injury claims (RTA, Public and Employers’ Liability), as well as advising on policy coverage. She acts for a global chain of restaurants, a London bus company and the ILC on higher value claims.

For the last 20 years, her caseload has consisted of large and catastrophic injury claims including fatal accidents, brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputees, chronic pain syndromes and psychiatric injury.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 1989.

Work highlights

  • Armstrong v Keepmoat Homes Limited and others (2012)
    Successfully defended a High Court trial involving a minor who sustained serious head injuries when struck crossing a dual carriageway accessed via the local authority’s land.
  • Waters v Hayley and Another (2010)
    High Court approval of a PPO/indexation formula for Insurers. Successful recovery of most of Insurer’s outlay following a trial in the Part 20 proceedings. Secured a reduction in the Claimant’s solicitor’s bill of costs of over £500k in Detailed Assessment proceedings.
  • Badacchino v West Wittering Estate Plc (2008)
    Successfully defended liability only trial in the High Court involving a minor sustaining catastrophic injuries (tetraplegic) after diving from a sea groyne.
  • Irvine v Commissioner of Police for the Metropolis and Others (2005)
    Successfully defended a High Court multiparty public liability trial.
  • Evans v Souls Garages (2002)
    High Court public Liability trial. Secured a third discount for contributory negligence against a minor Claimant.
