Ian leads Kennedys’ UK Liability division, and was appointed in February 2025. He is a partner and qualified in England and Wales in 1999. Ian holds significant experience leading high performing legal teams.
Supported by his leadership team, Ian and Kennedys are committed to providing UK compensators a full service offering across the full spectrum of liability claims including abuse, casualty, catastrophic & serious injury, Celtic, claims handling, costs, disease, fraud, local authority, London market and travel.
He has advised the motor insurance industry for over 25 years including such high profile successes as Stevens v Equity Insurance Syndicates Ltd. A significant area of his practice is advising compensators on variety of issues including; business structures & target operating models, government policy, industry regulation, implications of test cases. Ian is heavily involved in drafting and presenting market analysis and bespoke advice for a variety of UK insurers and corporates at board level as they deal with significant policy, regulatory and procedural changes in the sector.
He continues to handle a variety claims with significance for the individual client or market, with consideration to the significant procedural and process changes that the sector faces. Ian also continues to be instructed to conduct advocacy at all levels and values ensuring he is able to advise with genuine practical experience.
As a qualified mediator Ian has been influential in ensuring that Kennedys lawyers embrace the growth of mediation.
His most high profile case in the wider public domain was the 2017 London Bridge Terrorist Attack with Ian being involved within hours of the atrocity and his involvement ended with the settlement of a number of civil claims including many foreign claimants.
Ian was a core member of the team responsible for developing the Kennedys IQ Platform providing online claims and litigation tools such as Defence Lawyer, Portal Manager and Recovery Manager.
