Kennedys continues to deepen its bench of offerings with the addition of partner Judith A Selby to its New York office.
Joining from Hinshaw, where she was a partner on the data privacy and cyber team, Judy’s practice focuses on all aspects of data privacy and cyber exposures in a variety of industries.
Judy has almost 30 years of experience in litigation and arbitration in the area of insurance coverage. Over the last ten years, Judy has concentrated her practice in the area of cyber and data privacy, including cyber claims monitoring, incident response, advice concerning cyber/privacy best practices and compliance, and preparation of technology-related contracts. Already a trusted advisor to insurers on a variety of cyber matters, including cyber underwriting issues, coverage for underlying claims, and “silent cyber” exposures under property and other traditional policy forms, Judy also handles high stakes coverage matters arising from alleged regulatory violations, including the FCT Act, BIPA, and other privacy laws. She also adds to Kennedys’ growing US bench handling cyber incident response and data privacy compliance.
Meg Catalano, US managing partner says: “We couldn’t be more pleased to have Judy join Kennedys. Given her reputation in the US and globally, she will be a critical addition to our growing Cyber and Data Privacy practice in the US and globally throughout Kennedys.”
Nick Thomas, senior partner at Kennedys, says: “We welcome Judy to the Kennedys team. Her appointment is in line with our strategy of ensuring we offer breadth and depth of experience in areas where we see increased client need across the globe.”
Judy added: “I’m delighted to join Kennedys’ global cyber and privacy practice. Increasingly, cyber and privacy issues are international and have no borders. My clients will benefit from the firm’s deep bench and global resources as they confront today’s most challenging cyber, privacy, and technology-related issues.”
Judy, who joined on July 1, is the fifth partner to join Kennedys’ Americas Region this year following the hires of Joshua Mooney and Sean Mahoney to the firm’s Philadelphia office, Eric Hiller to the Miami office, and Jared Greisman to the New York office.
Kennedys has recently reported record revenue numbers, an increase of 11% on the previous year. In the last 12 months the firm has increased the number of attorneys globally by 10%, taking the firm’s overall headcount to in excess of 2,300.
