Mandy is a Senior Associate at our Sheffield office and has been with Kennedys since 2010.
Mandy is a dispute resolution and defendant personal injury lawyer with a specialist focus on local authority work. She represents insurers and local authorities and their external maintenance providers in relation to defendant local authority insurance litigation and personal injury claims. She specialises in employers’ and public liability matters with a particular emphasis on housing disrepair and highway claims.
Mandy advises local authorities in relation to policy and procedure on the highways maintenance code of practice. She also advises a local authority on strategy and procedure in defending bulk housing disrepair claims.
She is a member of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers (FOIL) and has contributed and authored articles on topics including vicarious liability and liability for fallen trees, and a bespoke publication on emerging risks relevant to local authorities. Mandy is an author of Kennedys’ Claims Handling Law and Practice Guide, the fourth edition of which was published in February 2021.
Mandy is an active participant at the national and local Association of Local Authority Risk Managers (ALARM) events.
She has taken part in a LexisNexis webinar providing an update on case law and practice relevant to local authorities and regularly provides external training to clients on various up-to-date issues. She has hosted seminars and round table discussions.
Mandy is responsible for the team’s legal apprentice, providing both a mentor and supervisor role and ensuring compliance with training and education needs.
She has successfully defended a number of high-value highway claims. In addition she has successfully struck out a complex housing disrepair claim.
