James is a senior associate in Kennedys’ Manchester office, having joined Kennedys in March 2019. James qualified as a solicitor in 2007 and has worked in counter fraud since 2009.

James is adept at handling a wide range of personal injury claims having successfully defended motor, casualty and travel sickness claims during his time at Kennedys. James is also experienced in handling and defeating suspect property damage claims brought as a result of alleged defective cavity wall installation.

James is commercially minded and routinely adopts a robust approach to counter fraud whilst always taking into consideration the economics of a case and the potential exposure to an Insurer client.

  • Extensive experience in seeking recoveries of costs from Claimants found to have been dishonest at trial. Numerous successful Applications to set aside QOCS pursuant to CPR 44.15 and/or CPR 44.16.
  • Significant costs recoveries against Accident Management Companies and Credit Hire Organisations following Applications seeking non-party costs Orders.
  • Successfully defeated a suspect personal injury case to trial with a finding that the medico-legal expert had acted dishonestly in his representations to the Court.
  • Regularly makes proactive Applications to dispute Jurisdiction in circumstances where defective service has been identified. This has resulted in early case successes with costs kept to a minimum.
  • Successfully defeated a number of high value Fraud rings to trial resulting in significant savings for the insurer client.
