Darren Goldthorpe

Darren is a partner in our Leeds office. Darren handles disease claims of all types, including lung cancer, skin cancer, bladder cancer, occupational asthma, dermatitis and all kinds of work-related upper and lower limb disorders.

He has particular specialty in noise induced hearing loss claims and was at the forefront of the insurance industry response to the rise of such claims, developing innovative software used on over 30,000 claims by various insurers to assist them identify fraudulent and defensible claims.

Darren has worked with insurer clients on developing market leading and innovative software solutions targeting various disease types and specialises in mi analysis to lower claims spend.

Darren was one of the founding members of the Leeds office of a boutique legacy insurance firm, growing it to 20 plus lawyers prior to joining Kennedys. Darren  is a recommended lawyer in The Legal 500 directories from 2016-2021 editions. The 2017 edition noted that Darren had “operated at the high end of the disease claims for many years”.

Darren regularly gives training to clients on all areas of claims and data analysis. He has been involved in Court of Appeal level test decisions dealing with client specific date of knowledge in HAVS and on constructive knowledge under the Limitation Act 1980.
