We are delighted to announce that our remarkable innovations journey has continued as we won Innovation in the Business of Law: New products and services at the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards.
We were also ranked as the best law firm in Europe within the FT’s ‘business of law’ section, ahead of a number of the magic circle firms.
This prestigious innovation award was in recognition of our R&D team’s ability to model insurance/legal claim workflows, and replicate these digitally, to develop new tools for clients in The Americas and Bermuda to handle different claim-type volumes at a scale not possible with traditional approaches.
Winning this award represents a significant milestone in our innovation journey and underlines our long-held view that technology is an enabler of change that can transform legal services for the benefit of both the industry and our clients.
Shortlisted in five categories overall, our other four entries were considered ‘Standout’ or ‘Highly Commended’ by the judging panel:
- Innovation in the business of law: Managing and developing talent – Ideas Lab (Standout)
- Innovation in the business of law: Strategy and changing behaviours – Using lawyers less (Standout)
- Innovation in the business of law: Data, knowledge and intelligence – Ki and Client Reporting and Insights (Highly Commended)
- Innovation in the business of law: New business and service delivery models – Kase (Highly Commended)
In addition to our awards success, we were also ranked 12th overall in the Top 50 of the Financials Times’ Innovative Lawyers 2019 Report for ‘Most Innovative Law Firms’.
Now in its fourteenth year of publication, the FT Innovative Lawyers Report has become one of the top legal rankings in Europe and these awards are widely regarded as the best researched in the market. Over the past decade, it has assessed legal innovation in over 50 different countries from over 400 unique law firms and in excess of 400 company in-house legal departments. Only the highest ranked entries in the report are shortlisted for an award.

In January we announced that KLAiM, our ground-breaking virtual defence lawyer that allows clients to take more control over litigation, was being rolled out internationally.
