Mairead Cusack
Profile
Mairead is an experienced Special Counsel in the Sydney office qualified in Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland. Mairead has represented insurers in Australia and overseas in significant, high-profile, cross-border matters focused on the property and construction industries.
Mairead advises insurers across a number of different product lines including professional indemnity (construction), contractors all risk, delay in start-up, and industrial special risks.
She represents insurers and their insureds in the superior courts. Her work is evenly split between complex and technical infrastructure projects, and the design and construction of buildings.
Mairead is co-secretary of the Engineers Discussion Group and facilitates and delivers education sessions for construction insurance professionals.
She regularly presents to the industry and she is recognised internally and externally for her knowledge and technical, commercial and strategic analysis of the latest legislation reforms and judicial developments affecting the construction industry.
Mairead was a finalist in the Women in Law Awards 2023.
