Colette is a legal director based in Kennedys’ Edinburgh office.
Colette has over 15 years’ experience in defending claims and complaints made against professionals.
During her career, Colette has acted for a wide range of professionals, including solicitors, advocates (barristers), surveyors, architects, engineers, accountants, financial advisers, insurance brokers and veterinary surgeons. She is routinely instructed in complex and high value claims, including in cross border disputes.
Colette also acts for education providers facing claims (including applications for judicial review) in relation to their fitness to practice and disciplinary procedures and admissions procedures.
Colette regularly represents clients facing regulatory complaints, including before the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission, the Law Society of Scotland, the Faculty of Advocates, the Financial Ombudsman Service and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
She has particular expertise in defending legal professionals facing claims and regulatory complaints.
Colette is a member of the Law Society of Scotland, the Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers and a Member of the FOIL (Forum of Insurance Lawyers) Professional Negligence Focus Team (Scotland)
