Kennedys co-hosted an exciting venture showcase event on Friday, May 24th, at Barclays Bank in Canary Wharf, London to mark the conclusion of Bright Tide’s latest Regenerative Farming Accelerator programme. Bright Tide is a UK-based environmental consultancy dedicated to helping businesses make climate change and biodiversity a strategic priority.
The event featured a keynote from renowned sustainability expert Andy Cato, Wildfarmed's award-winning co-founder and mixed arable/livestock farmer. Cato spoke passionately about how food and farming offer our best solutions to environmental crises, a vision Kennedys shares.
15 of our 22 ventures took to the stage to pitch their impactful solutions focused on regenerative agriculture practices for land and sea. The companies spanned a wide range of technologies and approaches, and are listed below.
On land: Chirrup AI, Tierra Foods, ReGeneration, AtmosEarth, Gentle Farming, New Foundation Farms
And at sea: Ficosterra, Oyster Restoration Company, Sea Water Solutions, Pine Island Redfish, Aquit, Three-Sixty Aquaculture, Algapelago, InvertoEarth, Ole Blu
Emily Clift, Senior Associate, spoke on behalf of the firm. Addressing the 120-strong audience, she said:
“It’s been a privilege for Kennedys to be involved in this Accelerator. Kennedys is a global law firm that helps business and insurers identify and deal with risks. We have a passion for environmental sustainability, and it’s of particular importance to our insurer clients who know how much ecology and climate change impact on their bottom line.
“Our role in the Accelerator has been to help bridge the gap between these amazing agri-tech businesses and the insurance world. It has already helped start conversations about opportunities for insurers to better support innovation in agriculture, and help address a global problem.”
The ventures' journey began 8-weeks ago with a virtual programme providing over 40 hours of free technical assistance, advisory support, and pro bono legal counsel. Leading global experts, mentors, and private sector organisations delivered this comprehensive training to the cohort.
As Harry Wright, Founder and CEO of Bright Tide explains, "Transitioning our food systems requires overcoming not just technological hurdles, but funding and communications barriers as well. And our partners’ expertise is key to doing just that.”
Kennedys looks forward to seeing what is next for these innovators and is committed to continue to nurture the ventures, working to build sustainable food systems, both on land and sea.
