We have appointed Lucinda Lyons as a partner in Australia, continuing our strategic growth in Asia Pacific.
Lucinda joins from Clyde & Co where she was Managing Partner, Australia and head of their insurance practice in Australia. She was previously a partner at Connery & Partners and an owner and founder of Lee & Lyons, before her firm joined Clyde & Co.
For more than 20 years, Lucinda has worked closely with major Australian and London insurers and reinsurers, as well as brokers, insureds and corporations.
As a casualty and personal injury expert, Lucinda’s practice primarily focuses on specialities such as personal injury, third party property and product liability work. She also advises on historical abuse matters on behalf of organisations and insurance companies. Lucinda is also an accredited specialist in personal injury.
Lucinda holds a long list of industry accolades including:
- Named by Doyles Guide as one of two prominent leading public and product liability lawyers in New South Wales for the last three consecutive years.
- Recommended in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific.
- A finalist in Lawyers Weekly Partner of the Year awards 2022.
Lucinda’s appointment brings our Australian partner count to 22, with the firm being listed as a Tier One firm for Insurance in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2023, as well as a leading firm for insurance in Chambers Asia Pacific 2023.
Lucinda, who will join the firm in Sydney on 18 December, says: “Kennedys is a leading, global insurance firm, and I receive regular feedback from clients about its market-leading reputation. I am looking forward to working closely with my colleagues at Kennedys to continue to leverage the firm’s network and expertise to bring quality solutions and services to our clients.”
Jonathan Wyatt, Managing Partner of Kennedys in Australia, comments: “I am delighted to welcome Lucinda to Kennedys. Lucinda’s appointment will enable us to continue to build on the work we are already doing with local and international clients.”
Matt Andrews, Regional Managing Partner, Kennedys APAC, adds: “Lucinda is an experienced and highly regarded insurance specialist in the market. I am delighted that she has joined the firm, as we continue our regional expansion in APAC.”
This announcement follows significant investment in Australia over recent years. Jonathan Wyatt joined the firm in 2021 with a team of nine to open a new office in Perth. Last year we opened an office in Brisbane, our fourth office in Australia, and moved our team in Sydney into a new building. In July this year, we announced a string of senior promotions and in September, Kennedys was named as an Employer of Choice for the fourth consecutive year by Australasian Lawyer.
We also recently announced another record set of financial results, reporting a revenue of £313m (approx. A$598m) for 2022/23, up 11% on the previous year.
