Maya Parbhoo

Maya is a Partner in Kennedys’ Melbourne office. She is an accomplished insurance litigator with experience in health law acting for medical practitioners, allied health professionals and medical indemnity insurers. Maya provides advice to medical practitioners and allied health professionals in medical negligence claims, disciplinary proceedings, coronial inquests, Medicare audits and investigations by the Health Complaints Commissioner.

Maya has experience across a range of medico-legal matters affecting health practitioners including privacy breaches, College appeals, medical registration issues and Drugs and Poisons investigations. A significant part of Maya’s practice includes providing advice to doctors before the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Medical Board of Australia (Medical Board) regarding notifications, investigations, Performance and Professional Standards Panel Hearings, the immediate action provisions in the National Law and the health assessment process.

Maya has extensive experience in negotiation, mediation and alternative dispute resolution and defends medical negligence claims across all Court jurisdictions and Tribunals.
