Michael is a partner based in our London office. He has nearly two decades of experience advising insurers and reinsurers in relation to high value coverage disputes, and defending their insureds. He has experience of all forms of dispute resolution including adjudication, arbitration and commercial/Technology and Construction Court (TCC) proceedings.

His core practice areas relates to claims arising from property damage, product liability, accident, and construction and engineering disputes, providing coverage advice and defending main contractors and their professional advisers amongst others. The professions Michael defends include architects, quantity surveyors and designers.

Michael has worked on a number of high value and complex claims, from advising the UK’s largest agricultural insurer in relation to a variety of issues arising from the 2002 foot and mouth outbreak, to defending London Market insurers’ policyholder (a main contractor) from a £10M claim for alleged faulty design/installation of a rooftop oil tank. 

Michael also leads a team of solicitors dealing with mid-high value property disputes, including subrogated recoveries.

He has authored a number of publications, including articles in Insurance Day and, in recent years, created a variety of media (webinars and online tutorials) concerning the changes brought about by the Insurance Act 2015. Michael is a member of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers and British Insurance Law Association, and regularly contributes to Kennedys’ internal publications. In addition, he regularly lectures and provides in house training on a number of topics.
