Profile

Jonathan is a senior associate in our London office. 

He provides dispute resolution and coverage advice to insurers and reinsurers in respect of large and complex claims in multiple jurisdictions across a number of lines of business, including property damage and business interruption, offshore and onshore energy, construction all risks, political violence and marine hull.

Jonathan qualified in New Zealand in 2015.  Prior to joining Kennedys in 2019, Jonathan was a senior solicitor in the litigation and dispute resolution division of one of New Zealand’s leading law firms where he worked on a broad range of commercial disputes.

Work highlights

  • Advising a number of (re)insurers in relation to business interruption and delay in start-up claims arising from the COVID-19 pandemic in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Advising an insurer in respect of extensive property damage and business interruption losses arising from civil unrest in Chile in late 2019.
  • Advising reinsurers in respect of coverage for claims in excess of US$ 200 million for property damage and business interruption arising from an explosion at a major oil refinery in South Africa.
