Common themes of breach of duty and causation in neurosurgery

Please note this webinar has now taken place.

Kennedys' healthcare team are delighted to be hosting the third session of our annual healthcare seminar programme 2024, which will be held virtually on Wednesday 20 March.

Guest speaker: Mr Robert MacFarlane, Consultant Neurosurgeon

Mr MacFarlane trained at the University of Cambridge and completed his higher surgical training in neurosurgery at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

He obtained a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Cambridge and was appointed as a consultant neurosurgeon to the Royal London Hospital in the same year. He later returned to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where he undertook general neurosurgery but with a special interest in surgery of the skull base and paediatrics.

He retired from the NHS in 2022 to undertake full-time medicolegal work. He has written more than 60 papers on a broad range of topics, including both cranial and spinal neurosurgery, as well as a number of chapters in textbooks, including a book on the outcome of cranial and spinal trauma which he co-authored.

This session will be chaired by Kennedys' Partner, Tom Armstrong.
