Collective redress in Europe: lessons to be learned

This webinar has now taken place, but please complete our form if you would like to be sent a copy of the recording.

We are delighted to be hosting a webinar on Thursday 25 May 2023 for an interactive discussion on the EU’s Directive on Representative Actions for the Protection of the Collective Interests of Consumers.

The Directive introduces a right for EU consumers to bring collective actions against businesses for alleged infringements of EU law. It is due to take effect from 25 June 2023 and is expected to significantly alter the litigation landscape in Europe.

The discussion will focus on the impact of the Directive in Ireland, where there is currently no existing legislative framework for collective actions akin to other jurisdictions, and feature practical insights from our expert class action lawyers in France and Australia, including in relation to:

  • Admissibility and certification of claims.
  • The availability, and scrutiny of, third party litigation funding.
  • Cross border actions.
  • Collective/class action trends and risks.

The webinar will be chaired by Barnaby Winckler, Partner in London.
