Fran Shaw

Fran is a senior associate based in Manchester. She specialises in defence and insurance coverage across financial lines, with a particular focus on professional indemnity and directors’ and officers’ policies. Fran regularly advises insurers on coverage on civil liability and directors’ and officers’ claims. Fran has particular expertise in defending claims made against solicitors, accountants and surveyors where she is instructed in a number of complex, multi-party matters. She also acts on behalf of insurers and policyholders in claims against directors & officers.

Fran has completed a secondment at a leading insurer where she handled a variety of coverage and defence matters.

Fran is also a member of the Law Society’s Professional Indemnity Insurance Committee where she monitors and investigates issues around solicitors’ indemnity insurance. She has contributed to Kennedys’ external publications and is a contributor to the latest edition of Kennedys’ Claims Handling Law and Practice Guide. In addition she gives training and seminars to clients on a broad range of issues. She is also a member of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers (FOIL).
