Daniela McGowan
Profile
Daniela is a senior associate in Kennedys’ professional liability team, based in Manchester. She joined Kennedys in 2024 having qualified in 2013.
Daniela is instructed by major professional indemnity insurers and their insureds and has a focus on defending claims for construction professionals including architects, main contractors and engineers. She is also experienced in advising insurers on complex policy and coverage issues.
Daniela has completed two successful client secondments with insurers which provided invaluable insight and enhanced Daniela’s knowledge of understanding her client’s needs.
Daniela has extensive experience in defending adjudication proceedings, pre-action and litigated claims and will use ADR when appropriate to achieve a favourable outcome.
In addition, Daniela is also a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute’s CPD committee and regularly organises seminars and training events for them.

Work highlights
- Successfully defended an architect in a multi-party claim for over £100million relating to cladding and fire safety defects at a hospital. The claim was settled at a mediation with a favourable outcome for the insured and insurer client.
- Defended a £15milion claim against a main contractor involved in the refurbishment of a shopping centre.
- Acted in a claim brought directly against insurers under the Third Parties (Rights Against Insurers) Act regarding pipework on a site of 15 residential houses.
- Successfully defended an architect in arbitration proceedings regarding renovation works at a property costing £2.5million.
- Instrumental in providing coverage advice to Insurers regarding a claim against an engineer for student accommodation.
