Sophie Powell

Sophie is a legal director in the London office, specialising in large loss property, energy and construction matters.

Sophie provides coverage advice to insurers and reinsurers in the UK (including both the London and Lloyd’s Market) and internationally. She also specialises in the resolution of high-value and complex disputes. 

Sophie has gained experience at all English court levels, including the Supreme Court, and with arbitration proceedings.

As part of her international practice, she works with our offices around the world and has had extensive involvement in claims resolution under a variety of legal systems. 

In terms of overseas experience, she spent several years practising in the APAC Region, joining both our Hong Kong and Singapore offices.

Sophie has also been on secondment with two major insurers in Europe, working with their EPC claims and legal teams.

She is a member of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers (FOIL).  In addition, she lectures and contributes to client-facing publications.
