Michael is a senior associate based in our London office. He qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2019 and joined Kennedys in 2022.

Michael advises primary and excess (re)insurers on complex, high value and often multi-jurisdictional coverage disputes across many lines of business including general commercial liability, construction, product liability, and product recall insurance. Michael also has experience representing insurers of policies written on the Bermuda form in relation to liabilities arising out mass tort litigation against pharmaceutical and pesticide manufacturers.  

Michael is also experienced in both bringing and defending third-party liability claims including acting for bringing a €40m subrogated multi-party recovery in Ireland arising out of a fire in a defective vehicle.

Work highlights

  • Representing insurers in respect of third-party claims arising out of a defective agrochemical which was alleged to have caused over €70m in third-party losses.
  • Managing a subrogated multi-party recovery in Ireland arising out of a fire in a defective vehicle which caused over €40m in property damage and BI losses.
  • Representing reinsurers in relation to their liability to insurers arising out of the World Trade Center attacks.
  • Successfully representing a national power distributor in proceedings against a liable vessel owner’s P&I club which was challenging the jurisdiction of the English Court: Enemalta PLC v Standard Club Asia Limited [2021] EWHC 1215 (Comm)
