Lourenzo Fernandez

Lourenzo is a senior associate in our London Office.

Lourenzo specialises in construction, energy and marine dispute resolution, both domestically and internationally, including at court and arbitration. Lourenzo provides dispute resolution and coverage advice to insurers and reinsurers in respect of large and complex claims in multiple jurisdictions across a number of lines of business, including contractors’/erectors’ (CAR/EAR) all risk, delay in start-up, business interruption, offshore and onshore energy and marine hull. Lourenzo also has particular expertise in dealing with claims concerning latent defect/inherent defect insurance, including providing coverage advice and pursuing subrogated recoveries.

Lourenzo presented a roundtable discussion at the Energy Insurance London Conference 2024 with Giuseppe Picanza discussing issues around the legal definition of damage and defect - an area that has seen a high concentration of judicial attention in England and internationally.

Lourenzo qualified in New Zealand in 2019 after graduating with a conjoint degree in Law (Honours) and Science (Biology and Environmental Science) from the University of Auckland. Prior to joining Kennedys in 2023, Lourenzo commenced his career in the Auckland office of a global law firm and was an Associate (Senior Solicitor) in one of New Zealand’s leading insurance law firms where he worked on a broad range of civil and insurance related disputes.
