Christina Macgregor
Profile
Christina is a partner at Kennedys’ London office. She qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute in 1989 and as a solicitor in England and Wales in 1991.
She has been advising property and construction insurers in the UK and Europe for over 25 years. She is particularly well known for her coverage work and has extensive contentious defence and recovery experience.
Christina has litigated a number of complex, high value and widely reported claims. These included successfully defending AXA in respect of multiple claims pursued by Ted Baker following employee thefts and recoveries for property insurers following the 2011 London Riots and the Buncefield explosion.
Christina is a recommended lawyer in The Legal 500 for 2018/19 and previously for insurance and reinsurance litigation. She is a member of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers and has published a number of articles reflecting the impact of new case law.

Work highlights
- Ted Baker v AXA [2014]. Successfully defending insurers in respect of multiple claims pursued by Ted Baker following employee thefts spanning a number of years turning on the wording of an AXA policy.
- Making a very substantial recovery in respect of damage by water escape at a high-end new build in Swiss Cottage at the pre-action stage and before insurers had to pay out on the policy claim.
- Advising on statutory and common law liabilities of a water utility company in respect of a claim by the owner of a new housing development for flooding by under capacity sewers.
- Defending a claim by a main contractor against an engineering sub-contractor arising out of a flood at a pumping station in central London and advising on attendant issues as to potential third party claims from others including Transport for London (TFL).
- Instructed on behalf of a market of over 20 insurers with claims totalling over £500m arising out of the explosion at the Buncefield Oil Depot in 2005.
