Profile

Rachel specialises in mental health law and Court of Protection matters. In particular, Rachel advises on urgent serious medical treatment matters regarding individuals who lack consent, including issues of capacity and decision making in the person's best interests.  Rachel also has considerable expertise with regard to inherent Jurisdiction matters in the Royal Courts of Justice concerning adolescents who are not subject to the DOLS regime. She also advocates on behalf of hospitals at Inquests. Rachel also delivers training to health and social care professionals on topics such as: mental health, consent to treatment, mental capacity, deprivation of liberty.

In addition to Court of Protection matters, Rachel also represents NHS Trust clients at inquests.

  • College, Year – LPC college of Law London (2003-2004)
  • Accredited as Law Society mental health panel member in 2010

Work highlights

  • Representing the North East London NHS Foundation Trust [2023] in the Court of Protection in relation to an unprecedented palliative care pathway approved for anorexic patient.
