Shaun Metcalfe

Shaun has a wide-ranging practice and advises on all aspects of indemnity and dispute resolution with a particular focus on matters arising under financial lines, statutory liability and general liability insurance products. He also advises local and international insurers and brokers on policy drafting, policy interpretation for claims under both general and life insurers’ policies, and on subrogated recoveries.

Shaun has a well-rounded insight into insurance and dispute resolution. Before joining Kennedys, Shaun worked in claims departments for 2 international insurers, including 6 years as the manager of financial lines and general liability claims. He also worked as in-house counsel for the parent company of a general insurer and a life insurer, for which he provided legal services on all aspects of insurance products and claims and represented insurers in relation to complaints to the Insurance & Financial Services Ombudsman and the Human Rights Commission.  This experience enables Shaun to deliver customer-centric solutions to the practical challenges and commercial pressures that insurers and brokers face.

Shaun is a strategic thinker who takes a common sense and commercial approach to advising clients and assisting in the management of their insurance and legal matters.
