Further expansion in London at Kennedys with New Year partner hire

We are pleased to announce that we have strengthened our London Market capabilities and global insurance practice, with the hire of Katherine Proctor from Clyde & Co. She joins as a partner in our London office.

Katherine specialises in re/insurance and general commercial disputes, handling property, liability and casualty disputes, with a particular niche in Bermuda Form matters. She also handles construction and engineering, energy, fine art and specie, and brokers’ negligence matters, acting for international insurers, reinsurers and brokers.

Nick Thomas, Senior Partner of Kennedys, says: “I am delighted to welcome Katherine to Kennedys. We are committed to growth, and one of the routes to that is through attracting the best talent. In Katherine’s case this came in the form of client recommendations, which really underscores our commitment to listening to what our clients think and satisfying client need.

“Katherine’s appointment will boost our global re/insurance practice further, and build on our London Market and Bermuda Form capabilities that have been strengthened with recent hires in London, Bermuda, Chicago and New York. Kennedys have a unique market position for Bermuda Form work as we are the only insurance law firm with a presence in the core hubs of London, New York and Bermuda.”

Katherine commented:

Kennedys has a well-established reputation in my two core practice areas of re/insurance and general commercial disputes. It is a progressive firm, with a rapidly expanding global presence, which supports the international nature of my practice. I am really pleased to have joined Kennedys, a move that has the full support of my clients.

This latest appointment comes after we announced the hire of a team of five partners from Mayer Brown in December into our London and Dublin offices. In 2017, we made 33 lateral partner hires.
