Kennedys partner, Travis Wall, and special counsel, Shain Wasser, recently obtained a defense verdict in a 7-day federal trial in the Central District of California.
Our client, a first time oil and gas investor, told the plaintiff about an investment opportunity in an oil exploration company in Louisiana. The oil exploration company eventually failed. The plaintiff brought three fraud based claims against the defendant including concealment, negligent misrepresentation and intentional misrepresentation. The plaintiff claims the three alleged misrepresentations induced it to invest in an oil exploration company in Louisiana. The plaintiff sought $3 million dollars in damages in addition to punitive damages.
After a 3 hour deliberation, the jury came back with a unanimous verdict for the defendant.
