Following the publication of Chambers Latin America 2025, the firm has maintained the set of impressive results in the latest guide to top law firms and lawyers across the region.
In addition to maintaining our ‘top band’ ranking for Insurance (Peru) for the fifth consecutive year, we have been recognized for our experience in the insurance market in Chile, Colombia and Mexico. Our Miami team has also received a ‘top band’ ranking for Insurance (International Counsel).
A total of 12 Kennedys lawyers have received individual recognition within the Chambers Latin America 2025 guide. This honor spans across five of the jurisdictions in which Kennedys has an office in Latin America: Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru.

Foreign Legal Consultant (Not Admitted to Practice Law in Florida) Partner (Qualified in Spain and England & Wales), Alex Guillamont, has been reaffirmed as a ‘Band 1’ lawyer for Insurance (International Counsel). He was described by a client as having “longstanding experience in the Latin American insurance industry.” Adding, “He is very active in the region and is a great team leader.”
Foreign Legal Consultant (Not Admitted to Practice Law in Florida) Partner (Qualified in Venezuela), Lorena Avila, has ranked as ‘Up and Coming,’ and was recognized for her expertise handling insurance matters in Central America and the Caribbean, with a client describing her as “a great professional and her experience is a cornerstone of the department's success.”
Based in our Buenos Aries office, Partner Alberto Bunge has been ranked as a Band 3 practitioner for a second consecutive year for Insurance (Argentina). He is acknowledged by market commentators for his advice to clients on insurance matters in Argentina. A client describes Alberto as “a great professional with solid knowledge and highly valued expertise in the insurance market.”
In Chile, our team has maintained a Band 3 for Insurance. The team is described by a client as, “Kennedys' expertise ensures compliance with regulatory standards and offers a strategic approach to litigation.” Adding, “their assistance strengthens our legal standing and enhances our operational efficiency.”
Associate-to-Watch Daniel Silva, who regularly assists insurers and reinsurers with Chilean insurance regulation, has maintained his ranking. A client compliments him as “a good lawyer. He is quick and has broad knowledge.”
In Colombia, Mónica Tocarruncho Mantilla, maintained her Band 2 ranking, and received noteworthy praise from interviewees. The Bogotá-based Partner was described by a client as “superb, responsible, and personable,” adding that “she is a great all-round lawyer who achieves good results. It is a pleasure to work with her.”
Partner Catalina Botero has been recognized for the third consecutive year and climbed the rankings to Up and Coming, with one interviewee stating: “Catalina Botero's responsiveness and professionalism stand out. She is also personable and easy to work with.”
In Mexico, Partner, Alberto Torres was highlighted for his expertise on insurance litigation matters. One peer praised him for being “a good insurance lawyer focused on litigation mandates.”
Further, Partner, Michael Hennessy was highlighted for his work advising clients on coverage analyses and insurance litigation. “Michael Hennessy is my go-to lawyer in Mexico; he perfectly manages our most complex cases and provides a good service,” one interviewee said.
In Peru, the Lima team has maintained their Band 1 for the fifth consecutive year and remains the only Band 1 team in the country, the team was praised for possessing “extensive experience advising clients on regulatory mandates, including the registration of insurance products and obtaining broker licences. It is well placed to assist with coverage assessments, as well as representing clients in complex claims.” Additionally Chambers recognizes, “the firm is also called upon by a premier clientele of insurers and reinsurers to counsel on cross-border agreements.”
Partner Marco Antonio Rivera Noya maintained his ‘Band 1’ ranking, and was highlighted by sources who underline his knowledge in the field. One client commented, “Marco Antonio Rivera Noya is an expert in insurance matters. He knows the Peruvian insurance market and its regulations very well, enabling him to propose solutions to any legal issue,” while another praised his “level of sophistication.”
Fellow Lima-based Partner Fernando Hurtado de Mendoza comes highly recommended by an interviewee, who reports Fernando as “an excellent lawyer with many years of experience. He always proposes effective solutions and provides impeccable legal advice.”
Legal Director Alonso Barreda is complimented in this year’s guide, and described by a client as “an A1 professional, knowledgeable and excellent in his analysis.” The client went on to add: “The reports he produces are impeccable.”
Legal Director Noriko Hasegawa continues to handle complex insurance work in Peru, and is commended by a client, who reports “Noriko Hasegawa a lot of experience in insurance regulatory matters. She has noteworthy knowledge of the Peruvian regulations.”
