We are pleased to announce the expansion of our Singapore disputes capability with the strategic hire of Kevin Tan, a highly regarded commercial litigation and international arbitration specialist and one of the market’s rising stars. Kevin joins as a Director of Legal Solutions LLC (Kennedys’ joint venture law firm in Singapore) on 1 October from big four firm Rajah & Tann.
Kevin brings broad experience handling a range of commercial disputes in the Singapore courts and in international arbitrations across a variety of sectors, including commodities, energy and technology. He acts in a variety of disputes involving joint venture, oil and gas, shipping, shareholder, investor against state, fraud, and employment matters with particular expertise in cross-border disputes.
Kevin is the vice-chair of the International Chamber of Commerce’s Singapore Arbitration Group, a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and is an arbitrator with institutions including the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, and the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre. He has been featured in the Singapore Business Review’s list of the most influential lawyers aged 40 and under, and recommended by legal directories including The Legal 500 Asia Pacific for dispute resolution, with clients describing him as a “standout litigator”.
Joint Singapore Managing Partners Julian Wallace and Kevin Kwek comment: “Kevin’s arrival significantly bolsters our Singapore disputes practice, and enhances our ability to provide specialist expertise in energy and commodities arbitrations. Attracting a senior lawyer of Kevin’s calibre and experience is an exciting development for our Singapore office, and highlights our commitment to investing in our future and providing best-in-class support for both our local and cross-border clients.”
Kevin Tan adds: “I am excited to be joining a global law firm with a clear strategic vision and forward-thinking leadership, who are keen to expand the firm’s capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region. I am looking forward to ensuring that Kennedys’ clients receive the highest level of service, and the opportunity to work with the firm’s regional and international offices.”
The new hire follows the recent appointment of Mark Errington to lead Kennedys’ Property and Energy practice in Singapore and Asia, and the promotions of two Legal Directors in the Singapore.
