Miami, FL, and San Francisco, CA (August 18, 2023) - Kennedys has announced that Alexander Fumagali has joined its Miami office as a partner, and Eryk Gettell has joined the San Francisco office as a partner.
Alex focuses his practice on general civil litigation, premises liability, products liability, and negligent security. He also serves as outside panel counsel for professional sports franchises and entertainment venues. Alex has significant experience defending trucking companies and has defended major electronics manufacturers such as Samsung and LG in cases involving products liability.
“Alex brings extensive trial experience and insurance defense work to our growing Miami office, and we look forward to his contributions,” noted Christopher Carroll, senior US partner at Kennedys.
Prior to joining Kennedys, he practiced insurance defense litigation for two national litigation firms. In 2023, he was recognized by Best Lawyers in America® "Ones to Watch" — Product Liability Litigation – Defendants. Alex is admitted to practice in Florida and the US District Court, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. He earned a JD from Florida State University College of Law and a BS from Florida State University.

With extensive experience counseling insurers on complex insurance coverage and litigation matters, Eryk focuses his practice on directors and officers liability, employment practices liability, financial institutions, professional liability, technology and media liability, cybersecurity and data privacy, and commercial general liability insurance. He has also advised insurers on thousands of insurance claims such as securities class actions, board of director disputes, employment discrimination and sexual harassment matters, wage and hour lawsuits, professional negligence claims, regulatory investigations, data breach matters, fiduciary liability claims, and coverage issues. Eryk also represents insurers in coverage litigation matters, including declaratory relief actions, fee dispute litigation, and defending insurers in breach of contract and extra-contractual lawsuits.

He serves on the board of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS) Northern California Chapter and is a member of the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF). Admitted to practice in California, he earned a JD from Southwestern University School of Law and a BA from University of California, Berkeley.
