Llinos Kent is a Partner in Kennedys Sydney office and is dual qualified in Australia and England & Wales. She joined Kennedys in London in 2012 and relocated to Sydney in 2018.

The focus of Llinos’ practice is on coverage and defence work with broad experience across insurance lines. She advises Australian and London market insurers on issues of English and Australian law.

Llinos regularly advises on policy response and on complex coverage issues (to include aggregation and year of account) relating to Financial Lines, Investment Management Insurance, Warranty & Indemnity and Cyber policies. Specifically, Llinos has advised on Class Actions in Australia, the Australian Banking Royal Commission, on COVID-19 issues and matters arising from catastrophic events such as Hurricane Katrina. Llinos is also experienced in ESG risks, with a particular focus on regulatory exposures.

In addition, Llinos manages a large and complex caseload of Australian and UK claims relating to a variety of professions (including brokers, accountants, solicitors, valuers/surveyors, construction and Trustees/corporate service providers). She is also experienced in running arbitrations and subrogated recoveries for insurers.

Llinos also monitors claims in other jurisdictions (such as Jersey, BVI, various countries in South America) against various professionals, in particular Trustees and corporate service provider, and insurers.

Llinos is a committee member of the Australian Professional Indemnity Group (APIG).  She is also a member of Forum of Insurance Lawyers and regularly gives seminars to clients on a range of legal issues and contributes to Kennedys and external publications. She has also completed a client secondment where she dealt with a broad range of claims against professionals and coverage issues.

  • Advising on Investment Management Insurance Policy Response and D&O Policy Response to various Shareholder Class Actions
  • Defending Civil Liability (Third Party Claims Against Insurers) Act 2017 claims against insurers
  • Acted for insurers in relation to a $800m coverage dispute relating to an indemnity claim by an Australian bank alleged of mis-selling interest rate hedging products. Involved issues of UK and Australian law to include construction proceedings in the Federal Court
  • Instructed as monitoring counsel and to provide coverage advice on a complex claim against a corporate service provider subject to the Laws of the State of New York
  • Advised in respect of a c. £50m claim for indemnity under a Warranty & Indemnity policy, arising from share sale of a telecoms company
  • Defended a multi-million pound negligence claim against brokers for allegedly failing to obtain adequate cover
  • Advised insurers on subrogated recovery, to include with respect to project specific policy in arbitral proceedings in New Zealand
