Robin is a Legal Director in Kennedys’ London office.

Robin joined Kennedys in 2012 from Addleshaw Goddard, where he primarily advised the firm’s large corporate policyholder clients on coverage issues. Prior to that he worked in the Latin American department of Clyde & Co.

He specialises in the commercial, financial institutions, pharmaceutical, construction and reinsurance industries, with focus on crime and professional indemnity, product liability (including Bermuda Form), general liability, environmental cover and directors’ and officers’.

Clients include AXA, Allianz, AIG, Swiss Re, Chubb, Munich Re, Hannover Re, Liberty, Axis, CNA/Hardy, XL Zurich and Allied World.

Robin has extensive experience of complex multiparty litigation and arbitration and has acted in several well-known insurance cases, including Standard Life v Ace European Group and others [2012], Enterprise Oil v Strand Insurance Company [2006] and Brotherton v Aseguradora Colseguros SA [2003].

Recent work includes advising reinsurance markets in relation to multi-million pound financial mis-selling claims (regarding interest rate hedging products and annuities), Bermuda Form coverage by Swiss Re and Allianz of medical device and pharmaceutical claims and advising AIG in relation to the collapse of the underground railway station construction in central Cologne and consequent destruction of the Cologne state archive.

Robin is a fluent German, French and Spanish speaker. Much of his work involves advising German insurers. He is treasurer of the British German Jurists’ Association, chaired by Lord Mance. He is also a member of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers (FOIL).
