Jason Francis - Day in the life

Associate, Dubai

Jason is an associate working in our Dubai office.

My job involves reviewing reports and evidence and then producing first drafts of whatever the next step in the matter requires.

Morning

My day starts early, I check my work phone and if something important came in I’ll let it simmer on my mind while I get ready for work. I hop onto my scooter and dash to work getting to ride past the Museum of the Future in Dubai en route to the office!

9:00

I get to the office and catch up with my colleagues. After a short while of chin-wagging – I head to my desk, and respond to the urgent or important emails. I prepare a to-do-list for the day in priority order.

10:15

I head over and make a cup of coffee in the kitchen. I start off by carrying on with the drafting of a coverage report for an important client that I have been busy with. This client gives us recurring and varied work, my job involves reviewing reports and evidence and then producing first drafts of whatever the next step in the matter requires.

12:30

We have a team meeting now on a complex matter, which concerns large losses and damage suffered as a result of fire at the largest mall in Saudi Arabia. This internal team meeting is a strategy and review meeting to help us prepare for the meeting with the clients this afternoon.

Lunch

I’ve ordered lunch in today, which I tuck down quickly as I want to give myself a bit of extra time. I may not have time to return to my coverage report on that other matter today, but I want to give myself the best chance.

14:00

We have the meeting with clients and it is smooth sailing. I draft a detailed email to the loss adjusters requesting clarifications as well as review a report just received from the fire causation experts. I manage to carve out some time to take my coverage report further, which I will finish tomorrow. Balancing competing obligations is the name of the game!

Evening

We are meeting with a set of clients and industry colleagues in the evening who have invited us to an informal networking event. This is a fantastic chance to build professional relationships.
