- Thomas acted in a leading case in the Danish Supreme Court regarding the representation of an injured worker during the litigation process between an insurance company and the Danish Appeals Board. [UfR 2011.2002H.]
Thomas is an Associate in the Kennedys Copenhagen office. He qualified in Denmark in 2003, and was admitted to the Supreme Court of Denmark in 2011.
Thomas is an associate who has worked in litigation since qualifying. In general liability matters Thomas has advised both insurance companies, private clients and public authorities. Regarding catastrophic injury Thomas has experience in both compensation for physical injury and complex calculation of temporary and permanent loss of income.
Over the years, many of Thomas’ cases have been related in particular to workers’ compensation. In this area Thomas has acted for major Danish labour organisations and the insurance industry, as well as being responsible for a substantial amount of cases that have led to verdicts from City Courts, High Courts and the Supreme Court.
In addition to litigation, Thomas has advised the insurance industry and municipalities on matters related to mandatory public workers’ compensation. This has led to several decisions from the Danish Appeal Board which has been the fundament for substantial depreciations on the future reserves of several cases.
Thomas is also heading the Scandinavian Cyber practice in close corporation with Kennedys international cyber team.
Before qualifying, Thomas was educated at the Danish Healthcare Compensation Organisation (Patienterstatningen). After qualifying, Thomas has maintained a strong connection to the healthcare compensation system and has been a member of the Danish Patient Safety Authority Appeals Board for several years.
Thomas is appointed by the Danish Attorney Association as a censor for the Danish attorney litigation exam. Through this appointment, Thomas is responsible for the education and improvement of the future generation of attorneys and litigators in Denmark.
