Profile

Amanda is our national head of real estate and non-contentious construction.

She has over 30 years’ experience in the real estate sector and specialises in leading development and regeneration projects throughout the UK. She regularly deals with complex high-value joint ventures and forward funding transactions and also acts for major property investors such as local authority pension funds and major occupiers.

She was recognised as one of The Lawyer’s Hot 100 Lawyers for 2019. Amanda is also named as a “Leading Individual “ for real estate in the Legal 500 UK 2020 and 2021 which stated “Amanda Hanmore has developed a strong specialisation in mixed-use regenerations” and was praised for her “great technical knowledge and commercial acumen” in the Legal 500 2018. Amanda is a regular speaker and contributor at real estate and business events.

Work highlights

  • Leading the team acting for the developer of a major mixed-use regeneration site in Truro. The “Hot 100” made reference to her lead role on the regeneration project “set to change the face of Truro... providing 1,500 new homes, as well as education facilities and retail space”. The latest stage in the project involved the completion in March 2020 of a Planning, Infrastructure and Collaboration Agreement with the Local Authority to deliver a new major access road, schools, community centre, and other infrastructure together with the first tranche of housing.
  • Leading the team acting for the Great Manchester Pension Fund in relation to its multimillion-pound JV and investment in the Circle Square Manchester, a high profile mixed-used scheme.
  • Leading the team advising the West Midland Pension Fund in relation to its various real estate investments and ongoing management - including the acquisition of the Arc, a newly developed shopping centre in Bury St Edmunds via a GPUT, the acquisition of St Philips Place Birmingham currently occupied by RBS, a major new National Rail depot in Coventry, and the forward funding of a new large scale Bream Excellent supermarket.
  • Leading the team advising a national house builder in relation to a joint venture with Homes England to deliver 10,000+ homes over multiple sites.
  • Leading the team advising Interserve Group in relation to its real estate portfolio.
  • Leading the team advising the Hinton Group in relation to a forward funded development of hotel led single and mixed use schemes; the latest two developments involving an income strip structure with various West Midlands Local Authorities.
  • Advising the ExtraCare Charitable Trust in relation to its joint venture with the Bournville Village Trust to develop and manage an extracare retirement village.
  • Advising Stoke-on-Trent City Council in relation to its joint venture with a leading developer to regenerate the City Centre including a new council office, hotel and bus station.
