In 2010, Kennedys was the first international insurance law firm to open an office in Miami to serve as a regional hub for legal issues across all of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Our team in Miami handle both contentious and non-contentious matters and provide a range of specialist legal services for many industry sectors. These include insurance and reinsurance, aviation, banking and finance, construction and engineering, cyber, healthcare, life sciences, marine, public sector, rail, real estate, retail, shipping and international trade, sport and leisure, transport and logistics and travel and tourism.
Our Miami office helps market-leading insurers and reinsurers manage claims, analyse and litigate coverage and related exposures, as well as provide an advisory role for related issues across all lines of business in the Latin American and Caribbean region. This also includes non-contentious advice and regulatory and policy drafting.
We have deep experience with highly complicated cases and also in cost-effective, high-volume claims resolution, class actions and regulatory work, and resolve disputes and claims in the most complex industry sectors. Our Miami lawyers are all bilingual and qualified across various jurisdictions in Latin America, England and Wales, Spain and the US.
Kennedys' fast expanding Latin America practice has its regional hub in Miami, where it is leading the insurance and reinsurance market.

Global reach / local expertise
Whilst Miami is the hub for the whole region, our lawyers work together with our international team, sharing global knowledge and local expertise with our offices in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and our associate offices in Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Panama and Puerto Rico.
All LatAm and Caribbean jurisdictions where we do not currently have a Kennedys office are handled from the Miami office, and we regularly handle multi-jurisdictional matters.
We also work with our Kennedys offices across the United States: Austin, Basking Ridge, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, and San Francisco, as well as London and other offices around the world who handle some of the most significant insurance and reinsurance matters globally.
Our Miami office has two distinct business units:
- Miami as the ‘gateway’ to Latin America and the Caribbean, with a team is led by Alex Guillamont.
- Miami for the US, which is one of six Kennedys offices practicing US law, including work in Bermuda and the Caribbean.
The operation of the Miami office is managed by Anna Weiss, Regional Managing Partner for Latin America and the Caribbean, and Head of Construction for Latin America and the Caribbean.
