Proposed updates to cybercrime and cybersecurity laws webinar
The increasing frequency of cyber-attacks in recent years has highlighted the need for Hong Kong to strengthen its cybercrime and cybersecurity laws, which currently lag behind other jurisdictions.
The Hong Kong Law Reform Commission recently published a consultation paper on “Cyber-Dependent Crimes and Jurisdictional Issues”, which proposed five new cybercrime offences. The Hong Kong Government also has plans to enact cybersecurity legislation which would require operators of critical information infrastructure to maintain minimum cybersecurity standards and notify incidents to the authorities.
In this webinar, Partner Nicholas Blackmore will look at the detail of the proposed new laws, why they are necessary, how they compare to similar laws overseas, and what else Hong Kong can do to strengthen its cybersecurity position.
1 CPD point has been applied for and, if approved, will be accredited by The Law Society of Hong Kong.
