To pay or not to pay: responding to ransomware attacks

While much of the world economy slowed during the pandemic, the ransomware industry boomed. Researchers estimate that the number of ransomware attacks grew 150% in 2020, and the average ransom demand doubled. Ransomware attacks and attackers are becoming increasingly sophisticated, often combining ransomware attacks with data exfiltration and developing a track record of providing decryption keys to encourage victims to pay the ransom. At the same time, the IT security industry are increasingly asking whether it should be illegal for victims to pay ransoms.

This webinar looks at the current trends in ransomware attacks, the legal issues arising from ransomware attacks, and most importantly, what businesses can do to avoid becoming the next victim.
