Q&A - Iskander Fernandez, Partner
We asked Iskander Fernandez to give some insight into his role as a Partner in our London office and to give an idea of what it’s like working for a global law firm.
For more insight into what a typical day in the life looks like working at Kennedys, visit our life at Kennedys page.
What is a typical day like for you?
I can find myself at a police station attending on a client who is being interviewed under caution to a magistrates’ court, where I undertake my own advocacy or a crown court with counsel. When I am not out of the office, I may be advising clients on issues that arise in their businesses and/or reviewing evidence that has been collated as part of criminal prosecution.
What is your one piece of advice for those starting out in their careers?
Don’t give up. There will be many bumps in the road, but keep steady and see it through. Never let anyone tell you it can’t be done or it shouldn’t be done no matter your initial starting point.
In what circumstances would our clients come to your team?
I act for corporate and high net worth clients who are subject to financial crime investigations and/or prosecutions by the Serious Fraud Office, HMRC, NCA or police. I also act for clients who instruct me to undertake internal investigations in response to a whistleblowing complaint that may come to the attention of a regulator or a prosecutor.
