In this scene-setting opening episode we meet the six candidates who will be battling to win the 2022 Claims Apprentice, and find out more about them, what they want to get out of the competition and the team names they decide on.

The six candidates are:

  • Jo Barker, Claims Specialist, Liberty Speciality Market
  • Sara Bolton, Claims Team Manager, Legal & General
  • Lewis Cunningham, Commerical Claims Handler, RSA
  • Martin Fleet, Claims Analyst, Assicurazioni Generali
  • Jordan Lewis, Third Party Claims Handler, Markerstudy
  • Jordan O’Donnell, Claims Handler 1, Motor Expert Team, Zurich Insurance

Involvement in the series, based on the BBC show ‘The Apprentice’, aligns with our commitment to supporting the development of the next generation of claims leaders in the insurance sector. Kennedys partner and marine practice head, Christopher Dunn, who is this year’s ‘Alan Sugar’, said:

“We’re looking to unearth new talent. We’re looking to find the next group of industry leaders. And we’re keen to support that as a leading law firm in the market. I’m personally looking for someone who has huge enthusiasm, who has commitment to carry out the tasks, and somebody who’s innovative – somebody who’s got fresh ideas and can really bring something new to the game.”

Alongside Chris, who the six candidates will be aiming to impress, will be a trusted team of advisers who have mentored the teams and will aide him in ultimately reaching a decision on this year’s winner. They are Partners Vittorio Cinque, Heidi Swales and Chris Chatfield, Legal Director Denise Eastlake and Corporate Affairs Director Deborah Newberry. In addition, two market experts from outside Kennedys have also been involved in judging one of the tasks: Thomas Matthewman and Matthew Hope, both Claims Managers from Pen Underwriting.

I’m personally looking for someone who has huge enthusiasm, who has commitment to carry out the tasks, and somebody who’s innovative – somebody who’s got fresh ideas and can really bring something new to the game.

The six-episode video series will showcase the ‘apprentices’ completing tasks related to the insurance sector, and is designed to help them in their future careers.

Claims Apprentice, which is designed to unearth, showcase and help young talent working in the claims market, was a new initiative in 2019 and, following the success of that inaugural series, and the follow-up in 2020, is back again this year. Kennedys is very pleased to be supporting this initiative once again.
