Claims Apprentice 2020: Episode 4 – Insurtech challenge
The fourth episode of the second series of Claims Apprentice, in association with Insurance Post, launched today and is now available below.
In this latest episode teams Empower and KDA are tasked with coming up with an idea for an insurtech start-up, that offers a solution linked with future mobility. They will be expected to create a brand, and come up with a five-year business plan, to pitch to VCs/investors.
For today’s task I want you to come up with a new insurtech idea, linked to the theme of future mobility. I want you to come up with a brand, a logo, and a five-year business plan. You will then pitch this business plan to a panel of investors. The team with the most investment will be the winners.
Suzanne Liversidge, Managing Partner, Kennedys
Alongside Kennedys’ Global Managing Partner, Suzanne Liversidge, who the six candidates will be aiming to impress this year, is a trusted team of advisers who have mentored the teams and will aide her in ultimately reaching a decision on an eventual winner. For this task, they are Karim Derrick and Vishaaldeep Flora. Karim and Vish are Product & Innovation Director and Product Manager, respectively, of Kennedys IQ, Kennedys’ technology company. Karim and Vish each draw the team that they will be tasked with mentoring, to help them shape their ideas, brand and presentation content for the start-up idea they will then pitch, in 10 minute ‘elevator pitches’, to the investors: Robert Lumley, Director & Co-founder, Insurtech Gateway; Carl G. Bauer-Schlichtegroll, Founding Partner, Eos Venture Partners; and Ed Gaze, Senior Manager (Lloyd's Lab), Lloyd's of London.
The winner is decided by which team the ‘dragons’ are most impressed with and convinced by, and most likely to invest in - with each dragon given £500,000 in imaginary seed funding, £1.5m is theoretically ‘up for grabs’!

Claims Apprentice, which is designed to unearth, showcase and help young talent working in the claims market, was a brand new initiative in 2019 and, following the success of the inaugural series, Kennedys is very pleased to be supporting this initiative once again.
