In the opening episode we meet the six candidates who will be vying to be crowned Claims Apprentice 2020 and find out a little bit more about them, their aspirations for the competition and the team names they decide on.

The six candidates are:

  • Daniel Brant, Claims Handler at UIA Mutual
  • Alexandra Francis, Liability Claims Handler at AXA UK
  • Isaac Fuente, Underwriting Junior Aviation Claims Adjuster at Nexus Underwriting
  • Kelly Huddleston, Credit Hire Team Leader at Covea Insurance
  • Kayleigh Lawson, Claims Investigator at Zurich Insurance
  • Taylor McTaggart, Continuous Improvement Consultant at Zurich Insurance

Involvement in the series, based on the BBC show ‘The Apprentice’, aligns with our commitment to supporting the development of the next generation of claims leaders in the insurance sector. Kennedys Global Managing Partner, Suzanne Liversidge, who this year takes over the ‘Alan Sugar’ role for Claims Apprentice, said:

"I will be impressed by somebody who has innovative ways of working, new ideas, fresh thought, diverse interests. Someone who's passionate about what they do, and delivers; always delivers."

Alongside Suzanne, who the six candidates will be aiming to impress, will be a trusted team of advisers who have mentored the teams and will aide her in ultimately reaching a decision on an eventual winner. They are Partners John Bruce, Caterina Yandell, Tom Pelham and Oliver Dent, Product and Innovation Director Karim Derrick and Product Manager Vishaaldeep Flora. In addition, this year, three other market experts from outside Kennedys have also been involved in judging one of the tasks: Robert Lumley, Director & Co-founder, Insurtech Gateway; Carl Bauer-Schlichtegroll, Founding Partner, Eos Venture Partners; and Ed Gaze, Senior Manager (Lloyd's Lab), Lloyd's of London.

I will be impressed by somebody who has innovative ways of working, new ideas, fresh thought, diverse interests. Someone who's passionate about what they do, and delivers; always delivers.

The series will showcase the ‘apprentices’ completing tasks related to challenges the claims market currently faces, and is designed to help them in their future careers.

Claims Apprentice, which is designed to unearth, showcase and help young talent working in the claims market, was a brand new initiative in 2019 and, following the success of the inaugural series, Kennedys is very pleased to be supporting this initiative once again.
